We have our bar chairs

Picked up our chairs yesterday. They swivel and adjust in height.

We're Done!

We're finally done on the inside. We've even moved most of our stuff back into the kitchen.
Here is a sampling of some of the new features of our kitchen;

Three colour backsplash

Filtered water tap, regular tap and soap dispenser

Venting to outside

Reciepe book shelf and glass corner cabinet.

Spice drawer

Built-in garbage and recycle buckets

flip open storge for sink scrubbers, etc.

Oh! Okay, we still have to get lights for the hallway.

Door framing completed

Basically complete now, inside is done, outside needs the cedar lattice insert into the old bay window spot.

And the outside, the siding was specially made because it is thinner than standard siding.

Habitat uses/sells our old cabinets

Remember near the beginning of this blog where Habitat for Humanity came and picked up our old kitchen cabinets? Well, we got a letter and a tax receipt for $650. When our cabinets are picked up, they are taken to one of their resale stores and evaluated. They then send you a tax receipt for what they either sold them for or anticipate selling them for.
It's good to know that the cabinets didn't go into landfill.

Backsplash is up...

Here are a few shots with the backsplash applied.

Nice reflection off of the counter.

The taps are in.

Wondering if the backsplash should go overe to the end of the window.

Choice of chairs

We have narrowed our selection of chairs down to 2;

This one is smaller, cheaper, more stylized, but less back support;

but this one is bigger, more square, more expensive and better back support;

Both swivel and are height adjustable.
We know which one Greg likes!

The appliances move in

Kick boards and appliances are put in place.

Check out the disappearing dishwasher, now you see it ...

... now you don't.

The floor was installed today. It is a laminate with the look and feel of slate.

The counter top is here

Finally, after a week of no action, the counter top is installed.
Have a look...

Here is the backsplash leaning against the wall and counter.

Electrical work and backsplash arrival

Remember the rat's nest of wires earlier? It's all tidied up now.

We picked up our backsplash tiles today and here is a sample of what they look like. The idea here was to tie in the white from the cabinets, the grey from the walls and the black from the countertop.
